Tissueinformatics CEO Peter Johnson, MD Appointed Co-Editor-In-Chief of the Journal 'Tissue Engineering'

TissueInformatics (www.TissueInformatics.com) announced today that its Chairman and CEO, Dr. Peter Johnson MD, has been appointed Co-Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious Journal Tissue Engineering (www.liebertpub.com/ten) The Journal is published by Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., the publisher of Genetic Engineering News, the most widely read publication in the biotechnology field.

Tissue Engineering is a peer-review journal that provides a forum of papers, reports and reviews of scientific research and advances in engineering new functional tissue. The interdisciplinary field of Tissue Engineering applies the principles and methods of engineering and the life sciences towards the functional understanding of structure-function relationships in normal and pathologic tissue and development of biological substitutes.

"We are delighted that Dr. Johnson will be assuming the role of Co-Editor-in-Chief. He has enormous energy and innovative ideas that will help move the Journal into the future," said Mary Ann Liebert, President and CEO of Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers.

Dr. Johnson will leverage his background as reconstructive surgeon, cell biologist and Founder of the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative with his business skills to focus on strategic impact issues for the Journal. These include structuring of the direction of the Journal as well as guidance of editorial policy, critical reviews and best practices of the Editorial Board in order to continue to enhance the Journal's impact.

"Dr. Johnson is a pioneer of the tissue engineering field. He has provided exceptional leadership and will help further enhance the impact of the Journal." said Dr. Antonios Mikos. Dr. Mikos will continue as Co-Editor-in-Chief and will oversee the now centralized Editorial Office at Rice University where he will guide manuscript recruitment, assignment and review with Dr. Johnson's assistance.
