MicroMass Names John S. Banas Jr., MD as Medical Advisor

 

Cary, NC, (February 24, 2003) - MicroMass Communications, Inc., today announced that John S. Banas Jr., MD has agreed to act as a medical advisor to the company. Dr. Banas is Professor of Clinical Medicine at the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University in New York. He also holds the Dorothy and Lloyd Huck Endowed Chair as the Chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Atlantic Health System, Morristown Memorial Hospital, NJ.

"I am excited to collaborate with MicroMass Communications in the development of innovative programs to help cardiovascular patients comply with their treatment regimens,” stated Dr. Banas. “Adherence is a prevailing problem in healthcare and MicroMass, with its behavioral methodology, has developed programs that are proven to be effective.”

Banas led the development of the premier cardiac program at Atlantic Health System's Morristown Memorial Hospital, a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University. Banas is a member of many professional organizations and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, American College of Cardiology, Council of Clinical Cardiology of the American Heart Association, and the American College of Chest Physicians.

A noted teacher and lecturer, Banas has lectured at hospitals and medical schools throughout the world and serves on many national and international educational advisory committees. He is the author of numerous articles and books dealing with basic research, epidemiology and clinical aspects of cardiovascular disease, and he serves on the editorial board of several major medical and cardiology journals.
