Unitrends Data Protection Products Now On GSA Schedule

Unitrends said Monday it will offer its data recovery products to the channel through a GSA Schedule and has added distributor Promark Technology to help beef up its government sales.

By getting its products on the GSA schedule, Unitrends significantly simplifies solution providers' ability to sell the company's line to government agencies.

The government sector currently accounts for about 10 percent of Unitrends' revenue, said Laurie Walker, federal business development manager of Unitrends, Columbia, S.C. The company is hoping to see its government sales double this year and has launched the Public Sector program to help promote its new status.

The program will target federal, state and local government agencies and educational institutions with products for disk-to-disk backup and recover products and off-site data protection. Annapolis Junction, Md.-based specialty distributor Promark Technology will act as the exclusive channel distributor of products available through the program. Walker said that the move to work with Promark came as a result of solution providers looking for ways to improve how they offer data protection products to government agencies.

"Promark is a specialty distributor with a strong government business," said Walker. "We thought they were the best choice for the program."
