PERCEPT USED TO WATCH OVER COURSE MANAGEMENT

PERCEPT USED TO WATCH OVER COURSE MANAGEMENT,
RECRUITMENT AND INTRANET APPLICATIONS

CARY, NC, April 11, 2005 – Covelight Systems, Inc., an innovator of solutions that ensure
business policy and regulatory compliance, today announced that University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP), one of the premier schools in the University of North Carolina system, has selected its security appliance, Covelight Percept, to protect the integrity, privacy and confidentiality of the University's web-enabled information.

Percept will enable UNCP to police their critical web-enabled applications with full-time usage surveillance to protect sensitive information in the University from abuse and misuse. With Percept's real-time detection and notification of usage policy and security control violations and suspicious user activity, UNCP will be able to protect sensitive data contained in three critical applications.

"Covelight's Percept is the only product we know of that consolidates all the essential tools necessary to safeguard our web applications from abuse and misuse by our users with valid credentials," said Dr. Maurice Mitchell, Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer at UNCP.

To date, UNCP has purchased three Percept units. One is installed in front of a student course management application that enables students to manage their academic life online, like submitting a test or keeping track of grades. The other two are protecting a recruiting extranet and a student-faculty portal intranet. Percept's ability to detect policy violations and attempts to circumvent access controls enables UNCP to insure the integrity of student records, project and test submissions as well as the privacy and confidentiality of personal and otherwise sensitive information. Also, by detecting abnormal user behavior as well as constructing an audit trail for detected incidents university is able to insure its policies and access controls are working.

"We were attracted to Percept because it allows us to audit application usage and apply
behavioral analysis in ways we simply could not do previously. Before we deployed Percept, it took us a great deal of time to sort through server logs to find anomalous user activity," said Tom Jackson, Executive Director of University Computing and Information Services and CTO at UNCP.

"Following up on anomalous patterns before Percept was time consuming and rarely done, because it was always after the fact and required a person with extensive knowledge to actually do the work. Percept's real-time capabilities allow us to stay ahead of the problem with its realtime detection and analysis capabilities.

" Covelight's Percept is a security appliance that protects enterprise information assets from abuse and misuse by the trusted "insider." Percept monitors, learns and records the actions of application users and provides real-time detection and notification of usage policy and security control violations and suspicious activity - all supported by an extensive forensic audit trail.

Uniquely equipped to guard against the insider threat to web-enabled sensitive data, Percept delivers the independent, actionable intelligence required to mitigate theft, fraud and abuse and hold authenticated users accountable.

Covelight Percept installs transparently in any data center and is configured in less than one hour, delivering no-risk, non-intrusive in-depth auditing, analytics and forensics for any web
application and its user community.
