Komatsu Zenoah and Iseki Select Global eXchange Services for Customer Order Management Solutions

GXS Solution Provides Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers with Web-enabled Order Processing

GAITHERSBURG, Md. – October 27, 2004 – Global eXchange Services (GXS) today announced that Komatsu Zenoah Co. and Iseki & Co., Japanese manufacturers of outdoor and farming machinery equipment, have selected GXS’ Customer Order Management solutions to provide their international trading partners and distributors with a Web-based interface to support customer order processing. An integrated part of Trading GridSM, Customer Order Management will provide Komatsu Zenoah and Iseki customers with self-service access to real-time order, product availability and account information. GXS’ Customer Order Management solution leverages the significant investment Komatsu Zenoah has made in ERP systems by providing deep integration to these systems and presenting the valuable information contained in these systems with a customer friendly format.

In an effort to increase competitiveness of manufacturers in other countries to meet the requests of their distributors for Web-based order processing and customer support, Komatsu Zenoah and Iseki upgraded their demand chain business processes with GXS’ Web-enabled technology. The ability to trade and collaborate electronically will allow these companies to produce efficient and accurate order processing and information supplies to their overseas trading and OEM partners.

The components of an effective customer order management system are three-fold: 1) Order creation via multiple channels; 2) Real-time back-office integration; and 3) Web-based customer service capabilities. Customer Order Management solutions from GXS offer manufacturers and suppliers multiple options for servicing customers’ needs. The results are increased customer service levels, sales and retention.

Manufacturers can use the Customer Order Management application in conjunction with GXS’ Trading Grid to automate demand chain interactions with distributors and customers. The application captures customer orders in up to eight different ways, including fax, Web, Quote or XML, so customers can select their preferred method of order submission. Regardless of submission method, GXS can seamlessly and automatically transmit orders to back-office fulfillment systems, converting all data into the same electronic format. Integrated workflow automates the sales and buying business processes involving internal and external users. Automation of the pre- and post-order interactions via the customer service portal enables quick, easy access to information, furthering cost savings and customer satisfaction.

Customer order management improves demand-chain processes and delivers the following benefits:
Lower order-processing costs, reducing costs to sell and service customers and improving the buying experience;
Expanded distribution capabilities enable selling to smaller customer segments and geographic regions that may be expensive to reach through traditional sales methods; and
Greater business process flexibility, allowing customers to do business using their preferred and established process.
Komatsu Zenoah and Iseki selected GXS and its Japanese distributor, Hitachi Systems and Services, Ltd. over competitors because of their experience providing demand driven solutions, their global technical service capabilities, the solutions’ tight integration with back-end systems and its depth of demand chain functionality. “We are committed to achieving excellence in collaborative supply chain execution,” said Ben Wong, GXS’ vice president of Asia-Pacific operations. “Customers are looking for a consistent experience with their suppliers, with the objective of reducing costs. Our Customer Order Management solutions offer Komatsu Zenoah and Iseki flexible, easy to use technology formats to effectively service their customers and accurately track business processes and valuable information exchanges.”
