Global eXchange Services Provides National Instruments with Order Lifecycle Visibility and Managed Services

GXS Allows Technology Pioneer to Benefit from Automating End-to-End Supplier Order-to-Cash Process

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — November 15, 2004 – Global eXchange Services (GXS) today announced that National Instruments, a technology pioneer and leader in virtual instrumentation, has selected the company to provide a full-service outsourcing and supplier portal program for communicating and managing purchase orders and invoices with its suppliers. With its selection of GXS, National Instruments becomes another leading company to join the Global eXchange Services' Order Lifecycle Visibility customer base.

The Order Lifecycle Visibility solution – an online supplier portal and an integrated part of the GXS Trading GridSM, provides National Instruments’ internal groups and its suppliers with an electronic ordering process - including online order viewing, confirmation, completion tracking, and invoicing. This solution enables National Instruments to achieve substantial performance gains in personnel productivity and cash management. GXS Managed Services help customers to obtain the clean, accurate, and timely flow of order and invoice data by bringing together National Instruments’ internal enterprise systems, its EDI capable suppliers, and the Order Lifecycle Visibility solution. National Instruments will also utilize the full range of Global eXchange Services' community management services including trading partner set up and training.

“Fortunately, National Instruments is growing at a robust pace. By working closely with our supply chain, we plan to handle this growth through innovation and productivity gains, rather than staffing increases.” said Jeff Daniel, NI Global Supply Chain Manager. “We selected GXS due to its breadth and depth of services for managing extended supply chain business processes, our successful past history with the company, and finally, its skills in supporting trading partners and systems located anywhere in the world.”

To date, National Instruments control and visibility of the order and invoice processes has largely been centered on manual efforts. These methods are scalable in order to handle the company’s growth only in terms of adding headcount, and this was not an acceptable solution for the company. By selecting Order Lifecycle Visibility, National Instruments and its suppliers will now be able to spend far less time on manual document processing efforts; instead focusing on value-add and strategic activities. Both parties will have an online, centralized source of supply chain information, and be able to easily locate answers to questions such as “was the order accepted?” and “has the supplier begun to ship?”

“National Instruments selection of the Order Lifecycle Visibility service is an excellent example of the business value customers see in the GXS Trading GridSM platform,” said Bobby Patrick, senior vice president of marketing for Global eXchange Services. “With this platform National Instruments and its trading partners will achieve a solid return on investment, and they will always have the flexibility to utilize other Application Services in the Trading Grid such as GXS Logistics Visibility.”
