Emageon Announces New Board Member

BIRMINGHAM, AL – (September 28, 2004) – Emageon, a leading provider of intelligent visual medical systems, announced today the election of a new director, Art P. Beattie, to its board.

Mr. Beattie has been Vice President and Comptroller of Alabama Power Company since January 1998. From 1992 through 1997, he served as its Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. He is also very active in the Alabama Power Foundation, serving on its Board of Directors and as its treasurer since its inception in 1989. Mr. Beattie began his career at Alabama Power in 1976 in accounting.

Mr. Beattie is a 1975 graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science in Business and has an MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
