Former President and CEO of the CTIA Joins InPhonic's Board of Directors

Telecommunications policy veteran Thomas E. Wheeler joins the Board of Directors of InPhonic

Washington, D.C. - May 24, 2004 - InPhonic, Inc., a leading provider of wireless voice and data solutions, announced today that it has named Thomas E. Wheeler, former President and CEO of the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA), to its board of directors.

"We are pleased to have someone with Tom's extensive background in telecommunications policy and technology join our board. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the board," said David Steinberg, CEO of InPhonic. "Additionally, his real-world experience in building successful telecommunications companies coupled with his vision and understanding of the market trends and direction will prove invaluable to the company."

For two decades Mr. Wheeler has worked at the forefront of telecommunications policy and technology. As a telecommunications entrepreneur, he has founded and helped establish multiple companies in the cable, wireless and video communications services worldwide. In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Mr. Wheeler also served as president of the National Cable Television Association (NCTA) from 1979 to 1984.

Mr. Wheeler was appointed by President Clinton and President Bush to the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He also serves as a director for several other boards including Tech Corps, Earthlink, Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), SmartBrief.com and Cibernet Corporation. In addition, Mr. Wheeler is the author of "Leadership Lessons from the Civil War: Winning Strategies for Today's Managers" published by Doubleday.
