Strong Gómez Q1 2004 Results Driven By Accelerating Global Account Growth

Internet Performance Management subscription services growth continues as multiplying customer wins and renewals demonstrate the company's ability to help customers achieve performance excellence

WALTHAM, MA, April 26, 2004 - Gómez®, Inc., the Internet Performance Management Company, today announced that robust global bookings fueled strong business results in the recently completed first quarter, reflecting growing recognition of the company's ability to help customers define, achieve and maintain performance excellence.

Internet Performance Management (IPM) subscription bookings grew 72% company-wide in the first quarter compared with the corresponding period in 2003, contributing to Gómez's tenth consecutive growth quarter. Business was especially strong in Europe, where the company's success extended across nearly every market segment. North American bookings also expanded industry-wide, demonstrating Gómez's ability to help customers measure the impact Internet application design and delivery has on the end-user experience.

"Our investment in building next-generation solutions that help companies reduce costs and maximize revenues associated with Internet services delivery is paying dividends for our customers," said Gómez CEO Dr. Alex Stein. "Our IPM services enable better resource optimization and alignment with organizational goals, which drives IT's contribution to business value."

Among the many new and renewed customers signed in Q1 is Rogers Communications, Inc., a $4.8 billion Canadian national provider of telecommunications services. "With over 2.5 million customers viewing over 25 million pages of content a month on our rogers.com Web site, application performance is critical to us," noted Ron J. McKerlie, Rogers Communications' Vice President of eBusiness. "Gómez performance management services flexibly deliver accurate performance data from outside our firewalls, which helps us to more rigorously build, test and deploy better behaving applications that enable customers to quickly and efficiently conduct business online."

Additional milestones achieved in Q1 include:

  • The arrival of GPN 5.0: This latest enhancement to the award-winning Gómez Performance Network responds to increasing client demand for visibility into, and operational control of, the complete visitor experience with the goal of exceeding online profit objectives.
  • Additional management depth: The hiring of Executive Vice President of Worldwide Operations Bruce Reading reflects a company-wide emphasis on business process and service delivery discipline to help customers make meaningful improvements to their Internet operations and Web delivery infrastructure. Mr. Reading is driving Gómez to tightly align business strategy with customers' increasingly sophisticated IPM needs.
  • Continued European expansion: Gómez Europe extended its footprint by expanding into Germany, the largest IT services market in Europe. The move helps Gómez to better understand German clients' IPM requirements and to more effectively deliver services to local companies and multi-nationals doing business in the country.
  • Growing global partnerships: New partners include Hudson Williams (Benelux), Avinci (Austria, Germany and Switzerland), Proxicom (U.S.) and ReadyTest Go (India and Singapore). Furthermore, Gómez is now partnering with Watchfire Corp. to deliver Web site usability and functionality assessments. This deal enables Gómez to focus its resources on helping customers achieve and maintain Internet performance excellence.

"The GPN's deeper diagnostics, real-time alerting and operationally-ready data will evolve with customer needs to proactively isolate Internet performance problems, speed mean time to resolution and facilitate continuous improvements," Dr. Stein noted. "Over time, the GPN's unique ability to transform performance data into actionable knowledge will be integral to companies seeking to achieve and maintain performance excellence."
