TriVirix Adds Industry Veterans to Management Team

Durham, NC – October 27, 2003 – TriVirix today announced that Kathy Blum and Robert Thatcher have joined its management team as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, respectively.

TriVirix develops and manufactures complex electronic and electromechanical medical and life sciences equipment and provides end-user support. As a global contract manufacturing service provider, TriVirix continues to attract top-notch talent to its team.

“The addition of executive talent like Blum and Thatcher,” says TriVirix CEO, Rich West, “bolsters our position as a premier service provider to the medical and life sciences industries.” Continuing, he says, “We’re excited about the extensive management and operational experience that Kathy and Bob bring to the table.”

As Chief Operating Officer, Blum will be responsible for setting the vision and implementing the manufacturing strategy for TriVirix. In addition to advancing an already-exceptional regulatory compliance and quality record, Blum will lead the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives.

Blum comes to TriVirix with 20 years of experience with GE, eight of which were with GE Medical Systems. In management positions at GE, Blum led, developed, and deployed strategic initiatives for Global Service Operations, Six Sigma, E-Business, Globalizastion, and Magnet Systems Operations.  Because of her commitment to excellence, Blum was honored in 1998 as GE Corporate Woman of the Year.  Blum also has extensive experience in the commercial and military Aircraft Engines business in program management, manufacturing, and quality.

Of her new position, Blum says, “Working with TriVirix provides the perfect opportunity to use my expertise as part of a team that is just as committed to the customer as I am. I am passionate about the many opportunities that the medical device and life sciences equipment industries offer for healthcare improvement.”

Equally committed to healthcare improvement, Thatcher joins TriVirix as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He will head TriVirix’s global sales and marketing initiatives, working to expand the company’s market position in Europe, to enhance customer satisfaction, and to develop strategic accounts.

Thatcher brings over 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the medical industry, 10 of which were spent in executive management of publicly traded companies. Most recently, he served as President and COO of Memry Corporation, a company that designs and manufactures  laparoscopic surgical assemblies, medical stent materials and components from highly complex specialty alloys. Bob developed and implemented Memry’s focused strategy of having the medical device industry outsource the alloy components of their devices to Memry. Thatcher also held executive management, business development, and sales and marketing positions with Medtronic, Schneider U.S.A Inc., Boston Scientific, and The Kendall Company.

Thatcher says, “At a time when the medical device industry is really just beginning to outsource its manufacturing and design services, TriVirix is well positioned to capture significant market share. At TriVirix, we focus entirely on the medical and life sciences industries. By combining TriVirix’s industry focus with my experience in the medical industry, we expect to capitalize on the current outsourcing momentum. I look forward to helping TriVirix realize significant growth—today and into the future.”
