Leading Veterinary Pathologist, Dr. James Moe, Appointed to TissueInformatics Board of Directors

TissueInformatics.Inc (www.TissueInformatics.com) is pleased to announce today that Dr. James Moe, DVM, Ph.D. has been appointed to the company's Board of Directors.

Dr. Moe is one of the world's leading board-certified veterinary pathologists.

Dr. Moe has held many key positions in his 35 year career. Most recently Dr. Moe was the Vice President of Global Toxicology, Metabolism and Laboratory Animal Medicine for Pharmacia Corporation (Pfizer Inc.) where he led a global staff of approximately 700 employees in 6 R&D sites around the world. In his long standing role at Pharmacia, Dr. Moe held senior corporate responsibility for all aspects of preclinical drug safety, metabolism and pharmacokinetics contributions to the discovery, development and post-marketing testing of pharmaceutical products for the entire Pharmacia portfolio. Under his leadership, the Pharmacia Investigative and Predictive Toxicology capability in Pharmacia was expanded to its current position as one of the recognized industry leaders.

Prior to Pharmacia, Dr. Moe held a series of scientific and leadership roles in Department of Defense research laboratories, culminating as Director of Pathology, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Washington, DC, where he led research activities and directed a post-graduate residency program in veterinary pathology. Dr. Moe's scientific interests in infectious diseases and drug safety research led to his appointment as a vaccine safety consultant for the World Health Organization and the Rockefeller Foundation, with activities focused in Thailand and China.

Dr. Moe graduated from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1964. Following this, he achieved board certification as a veterinary pathologist in 1973 and received a PhD degree in Comparative Pathology in 1978 from the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine, the largest veterinary school in the nation.

Dr. Moe continues his active role in several scientific and professional organizations. He has held leadership roles in the American College of Veterinary Pathologists as a member of the Governing Council, Chairperson of the Examination Committee as well as Vice President and President. Since 1989 he has been a member of the Preclinical Safety Steering Committee of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association, and represented this organization as a Safety Pharmacology topic leader in the Fifth International Conference on Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Registration of Pharmaceuticals.
