HAHT Commerce Passes Beta Testing for UCCnet™ XML Schema Hardlines Specification

New Standard Lays the Foundation for Global Data Synchronization Network

10/13/03 - Raleigh, NC - HAHT Commerce, the leading provider of Demand Chain Management applications, today announced that it has passed Beta testing for UCCnet services on its latest release, version 2.2, which incorporates technology that allows UCCnet subscribers to exchange and synchronize data with their trading partners on a global scale, across many industry vertical markets, and using XML Schema for robust data-driven processing.

UCCnet services now use Extensible Markup Language (XML) Schemas for standard messaging. The new schema-based messaging complies with the new Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) standards, which govern the communication and data synchronization between UCCnet services and individual company catalogs of product information. This technology standard establishes a common electronic communication architecture for companies around the world to do business with each other more efficiently and effectively.

Additionally, this new release introduces several of the EAN.UCC System (a global standards system co-managed and administered by the Uniform Code Council) schemas used to achieve data synchronization in, and between, industry verticals such as hardlines, apparel, office supplies and fast moving consumer goods.  The standards of the EAN.UCC System provide companies in 23 major industry verticals with a global language of business to uniquely identify products, assets, locations and logistics units, and the corresponding electronic information, across the global supply chain.  The EAN.UCC System is currently used by nearly one million member companies worldwide.

"The HAHT Commerce Quick Connect product, built upon UCCnet services, is a robust solution for manufacturers to synchronize product information with their retailers," said Fred Geiger, Senior Vice President, Product Management for UCCnet. "HAHT has been a catalyst for the CP industry by helping large and medium–sized manufacturers to synchronize product and company information according to industry standards."

“We are very proud to be among the first UCCnet Solution Partners to pass Schema Hardlines Beta for version 2.2,” said Terry Welty, VP of Marketing for HAHT Commerce. “This new release adds functionality that will enable our customers, especially those in hardlines, to synchronize data with the Global business partners in a much more effective manner.”
